Our 2010 season is now complete and what a wonderful season it was. Amazing weather and lots of ecstatic anglers returned home with great memories, full fish boxes and stories of the “big one” that did not get away.
Whether it was a week to relax and enjoy the wilderness of Southeast Alaska in the lap of luxury, pulling on fish for days on end, or just kayaking around our secluded bay looking at Black Bears feasting on Salmon, Whale watching or a combination of all the above, it all worked. Saltery Lodge is a paradigm shift from your typical Alaska lodge. Yes we catch fish, and we are quite good at it, but there is really so much more. With 62 acres of rainforest wilderness, history, wildlife, hummingbirds, eagles, and the list goes on; you are surrounded with options. Fresh caught Dungeness Crab and pots full of Shrimp made for some delectable feasts as did all the dinners our Chef prepared for our hungry guests.
The lodge is open from May through September. The best times to reserve dates for fishing would be July, August and September. For those of you who are not of the angling persuasion , we recommend our early season of May and June. Our special little hummingbirds are in full swing by the middle of May and stay around through June. Just to give you an idea of how many of the little flying critters we have pay us a visit, we typically feed 2 and 1/2 gallons of nectar a day. We offer some very reasonable lodge packages that exclude the use of our boats for just this special time.
Off Season Reservations
Also for those of you that may just want to get away and spend time in a setting such as ours, we take reservations for off season travelers (October to April).
Should your desire be to curl up next to a warm fireplace and consume a book or just stare out at the ocean and reflect, we would love to host you for a week of relaxation at the Saltery Lodge. Typically we would need a minimum group of 6 people for such a reservation. Call or email for details.
Be sure to sign up for our email subscription for updates, current events, specials, Jan’s recipe column and what is going on behind the scenes. We will be traveling to several cities around the country this winter for trade shows and maybe we will see you there.
