This all-in-one Ketchikan tour lets you experience the best parts of Saltery Lodge and its 62 acres. Experience wildlife, a boat tour, lodge tour, wilderness waterfall tour, and enjoy a great lunch at the lodge!

We transport you via van and boat to the remote Ketchikan waterfront lodge. Watch for abundant wildlife, including eagles, bears, whales, seals, and hummingbirds in a private and relaxed atmosphere. You arrive at the lodge ready to tour the remarkable facility and learn about the rich history that surrounds the lodge.

We have over 62 acres of private water front forest land, one of the largest private parcels in Ketchikan. Take a short hike on this land to discover our hidden waterfall that is over forty feet tall back in the old growth forest. In July through August, salmon run up our stream and you will be able to witness this great life cycle for yourself. During this time, it is not uncommon to see black bears fishing for the salmon.

Discover the old graveyard, protected by centuries old hemlock, that illuminate the history that occurred on this property over 100 years ago when it was a thriving (and one of the largest) salmon canneries. Tour trees that have grown through the bed frames abandoned by the workers of the cannery over 80 years ago.

After your hike, join us in your intimate dining room for a meal prepared by our chef. Enjoy it with complementary house wine and gourmet coffees. You can upgrade this meal to a King Crab feast if you would like, for an additional fee. The service is friendly and the views out the window are to die for, as wildlife is available right out the windows!

In May and June, the hummingbirds are out in force, and there is a good chance that you should be able feed them right from your hand! Some free time will be available for you to tour the lodge grounds yourself. If you have kids, there will be additional activities such as fishing off the dock. This is a tour you don't want to miss as it gives you the true feel of the different things South East Alaska is known for, away from the crowds, and in a luxurious and memorable environment.

There are other kayak trips in Ketchikan, but none offer our combination of a great protected location, private lunch in our luxurious lodge, and sightseeing boat ride through the picturesque Clover Pass. We transport you via van and boat to the remote waterfront lodge. Watch for abundant wildlife, including eagles, bears, whales, seals on the ride out and while kayaking. You arrive at the lodge ready to kayak in our protected bay.

Our kayaks are stable sit on top ocean kayaks. They are so stable, even the lodge owner's seven and nine year old daughters had no problem paddling tandem or solo. We have a mix of kayaks for different sizes and even a couple of tandem kayaks. There is always some part of the bay that is completely protected, giving you a stress free kayaking experience.

In July through September, there are tens of thousands of salmon that migrate to our streams right near the lodge. Paddle among them, and even fish for them if you would like! Sometimes they jump so close to your kayak, them almost jump in your lap! Other wildlife is available during your paddle, including potential bear sightings, seals, eagles, seals, and other wildlife.

Come back from your kayak trip and fill your appetite with a beautiful meal prepared by our chef. House wines and gourmet coffee to warm you up are on the house. Hot chocolate is available for the kids.

This tour is unique in Alaska. Learn how to take great photographs with your camera, and feed hummingbirds by hand!

Attend this unique Ketchikan tour and learn the easy secrets that the pros use to create those fabulous photos, while being surrounded in remote Alaskan luxury. Bring your own Digital SLR or if you only have a "point and click" camera, we can loan you a SLR for the excursion. All skill levels are welcome.

We transport you via van and boat to the remote waterfront lodge. Watch for wildlife along the way, including eagles, bears, whales, and seals. Once at the lodge, your group will get a short hands-on tutorial about the secrets that you should know in order to lift your photography skills to the next level.

In May and June, and sometimes in the other summer months, hummingbirds should be available to feed by hand, an experience you won't forget! Great photography opportunities abound throughout the lodge's 62 acres, including a hidden 40 foot waterfall. In July-September, the lodge has salmon in its own salmon stream. Bears are frequently sighted here, feeding on the salmon. Deer and Eagles play on the beach as well as hordes of Seagulls, especially in September. Seals splash in the water nearly all summer. This shore trip is among the most unique of all the Ketchikan tours.

• Weather in the summer is relatively mild, but can on rare occasions, can be too stormy for excursions. We may cancel the trip if the weather does not to permit us to conduct the tour safely.
• If we cancel your trip due to weather of other circumstances out of our control, or if you cannot make your trip because of a cruise ship itinerary change, we will issue a full refund.
• Payment in full is expected to reserve your booking.
