Legendary Alaska freshwater fishing... there is nothing that beats being in the wilderness with no one around for miles, other than the large trout at the end of your line.
Here at Saltery Lodge in Alaska you will experience that feeling over and over again!
We have several options to get you that freshwater fishing fix.
First, we have our own US Forest Service use permits which allow us to take you to rivers, streams, and lakes in the area on our fishing vessel Sarana.
Secondly, we team up with float plane operators in town who can fly you to beautiful remote lakes where you may be the only one on the lake! This carries an additional cost, though.
Thirdly, you can self explore the famous Naha river and lake system which is only 1/2 miles from the lodge.
This system is closed to commercial guiding, which means few people use it.
There are different types of fresh water fishing you can do in Alaska.
You can choose drift fishing, flyfishing, or lure (spinner) fishing for trout or salmon in the streams.
Or you can troll streamers from a float tube, waiting for that big rainbow to tow you around!
It is not uncommon, especially when fishing for salmon in the streams to share the stream with black bears.
This can be quite a thrill and always makes for great photos.
