Alaska Fishing on Sarana

Saltery lodge has two great fishing vessels, the Sarana and the Linnaea. Both are incredible in their own right. Sarana (pronounced "SAIR-ANA")is a large power cat, 40' in length by 15' in breadth, and can take you anywhere. Custom built for Saltery Lodge, and now a coast guard certificated vessel able to carry 18 passengers, this vessel is the cream of the crop for charter fishing vessels in southeast Alaska.

What makes this boat different from other charter boats?

• Coast Guard Certificated: Legally able to carry up to 18 passengers, this vessel has gone through additional safety and inspection that most 6 pac (six person max) vessels do not have to go through. Inspected every year by the coast guard, this vessel is safe and ready for your group.
  
• Size: 40' length is really big for a charter boat.  Most are much smaller.
• Beam: 15' boat is a really wide boat. This gives you lots of room to fish and be comfortable.
• Catamaran style: This helps efficiency and the ability to cut through almost any waves without pounding.  It is also very stable, you can have three people go from one side of the boat to the other and it will hardly move.
• Fly Bridge: This is the "second story"; on the boat. You can climb the ladder and get to the upper deck, where the view is extraordinary.  Go up here while underway or during fishing for a better view.
• Horsepower: This boat has almost 1,000hp which is more than almost any other charter fishing boat in southeast. With its surface piercing drives, it can take this big boat to the best fishing spots and get you there fast!
• Comfortable Cabin: The cabin can seat 10 people comfortably. There is a furnace which keeps everyone nice and cozy as well.
• Walk Around Cabin: You can get from the back deck to the front deck without going through the middle of the cabin.
• Front Deck: The boat has a huge front deck with a drop door which makes it extraordinary for pulling crab and shrimp pots, bottom fishing, and getting good clear views of wildlife.
• Safety:  There are lots of safety gear on the vessel including Coast Guard rating for chartering, life raft, EPIRB, life jackets and fire extinguishers on the vessel and automatic extinguishers in the engine compartment.
